Syed Rashedul Hossen (joint secretary) has recently been posted to the Finance Division and attached as Director to this institute. Prior to his current role, he served as the Economic Minister and Alternate Permanent Representative to the United Nations ESCAP at the Embassy of Bangladesh in Bangkok, where he adeptly managed economic diplomacy on both bilateral and multilateral fronts.
During his diplomatic assignment, Mr. Hossen achieved significant recognition, being elected as the vice-chair of the Second Ministerial Conference on Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) and also vice-chair in the First session of the Paperless Trade Council of the Framework Agreement on Facilitation of Cross-border Paperless Trade in Asia and the Pacific at UNESCAP, Bangkok and successfully chaired several sessions there. Before his diplomatic service, Mr. Hossen contributed to various capacities within the Finance Division under the Ministry of Finance and also held key roles in different tiers of the field administration of Bangladesh.
His academic achievements include a master’s degree in development economics from Hiroshima University, Japan, and a master’s and bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Notably, he also holds a certificate in Development Evaluation from Carleton University, Canada and a life member of International Development Evaluation Association (IDEAS).
His awards include “Joint Japan-World Bank Graduate Scholarship (JJ/WBGSP)” “scholarship for PhD. Program in Governance and Development from the GSPA, National Institute of Development Administration “and the “G-20 Global Leadership Program for Middle Managers” from the KDI School of Public policy and Management.
