Dr. Ziaul Abedin is a member of the 18th BCS and currently serving as Joint Secretary of the macroeconomic forecasting and policy branch of the Finance Division. During more than 24 years of career in the civil service, he served in various capacities including as a debt management specialist of the DMTBF Project, as Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and as Joint Secretary at the Economic Relations Division. He obtained an undergraduate degree in economics from the Aligarh Muslim University, India and completed a post-graduate degree in economics from the University of Dhaka. Later, under the Monbukagakusho scholarship of the Japanese Government, he completed PhD in economics from the Shiga University, Japan.
