Mahbub Ahmed served as Senior Secretary, Finance Division, Ministry of Finance, Senior Secretary, Ministry of Commerce; Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports. He also served as the alternate executive director of the Asian Development Bank. On behalf of Government of Bangladesh, he signed TICFA with USA and led the Bangladesh Team in the First TICFA Forum Meeting in 2014. As the Youth and Sports Secretary, he played an important role in undertaking National Service program for unemployed youth in 2010 and arranging ICC World Cup Cricket in Bangladesh, 2011. Mr Mahbub Ahmed started career as Assistant Commissioner of Taxes in 1983. Prior to that he obtained BSS (Hons) and MSS in Economics from Dhaka University. He completed Hubert Humphrey Fellowship under Fulbright Exchange Program of USA Government in Finance and Development Economics at the American University, Washington D.C. in 1992-93. He also developed his professional skill and knowledge through study and training in the following Universities, institutions and organizations: Cornel University, USA; University of London, UK; Manchester University, UK; Singapore Civil Service College , Singapore; International Monitory Fund (IMF), Singapore & Washington D.C.; The World Bank, Washington D.C.; Civil Officers Training Academy, Bangladesh; Bangladesh Public Administration Training Centre and Taxation Training Academy, Dhaka.
